Join us for a #CGtour to the Adelaide Hills in May 2021.
Let’s celebrate the magic that the Adelaide Hills has to offer us with their secret of high altitude and cool climate producing premium Australian Sparkling Wine.
There are many ways to play, and stay – so choose which events suit you – or join me for the whole experience.
1st Event: Friday 21 May 6pm onwards at the National Wine Centre’s Wined Bar, Hackney Road, Adelaide. Join us at 6pm for a private tasting of the Sparkling Wine flight featuring the fabulous Natalie Fryar’s Bellebone 2016 Vintage Cuvée; and two other distinguished sparkling wines. We’ll add a Sparkling Shiraz to the mix, with charcuterie and cheeses. $49 per person for the private tasting – Or simply join us later in the Wined Bar and order individually at your own pace.
Saturday 22 May: Meet in Stirling main street around 10:00am Saturday for our wonderful day out amongst the vines.
Our 2nd event is arguably the most exclusive, immersive experience you can find in the Adelaide Hills. The charismatic Hamish Laurie will guide us on a private tour of Deviation Road Winery. We will hear the story of Kate Laurie’s dream to study Oenology in Avize, Champagne, and how Deviation Road’s four incredible sparkling wines have amassed numerous International and Australian Wine Show medals and accolades. As we taste the four méthode traditionelle creations, we’ll learn about the impact of high altitude and cool climate on the acidity of the grapes, and why it is so important to keep this magical nectar on tirage = contact with the yeast lees, for as long as possible before disgorgment. Lastly we’ll disgorge our own bottle to take home as a perfect souvenir of the day. $180 per person – (this experience is usually priced much higher) Spaces still available.
With several stops planned at other Sparkling destinations, we’ll head out to Croser Petaluma for their final sitting of the day: four sparkling wines (vintage and non-vintage) to compare to the whole day…
Join us Sunday from 11am for our 3rd Event: An ‘Art of Sabrage’ Masterclass.
Haven’t you always wanted to learn the art of sabrage…? This is your chance. We’ll start with tastings at Howard Vineyard‘s Cellar Door, or join us from 12noon, when you’ll be expertly guided by myself and other members of ‘Le Club de Sabrage des Champagne Goddesses’ how to safely and powerfully SABER the top off a bottle of sparkling wine! It’s very empowering. You’ll receive a certificate, and a very special membership card which enables you to teach others the magical art of sabrage. Join-in ‘tout de suite’ at only $60 per person: includes tastings, a bottle of Howard Sparkling to saber; nibbles and The Art of Sabrage certification. Bring your girlfriends – they will not want to miss out.
